Glasgow Arts Community Touring Panto celebrates 10 years of bringing brilliant family theatre to audiences across the city. This community touring panto group simply gets better and better. The panto’s inventive script is written by Alan McHugh and wonderfully adapted by Julie Brown for Glasgow Life. The handsome Prince Sebastian (Trevor O’Connell) is turned into the frightening Beast by the vain evil witch Deadly Nightshade (Neshla Caplan) who scared all the weans. This is community panto at its family-friendly best and so affordable. Ticket prices were only five pounds and two pound fifty pence for concessions.
There was plenty of topical “Glasga” jokes and the whole performance was a celebration of the city. Sweaty Betty Blumenthal played by the well-known stage actor Kevin Lennon was the perfect panto dame, picking on the audience members and getting everyone to participate. The other two heroes of the fairy tale were Beauty (Storm Skyler McClure) and Boaby, son of Betty (Andrew Marley) who also injected the performance with cheeky humour and plenty of hissing, booing and singing along. If you missed this Panto this year in Knightswood, make sure you look out for this ‘Weegieville’ show in 2020. Alternatively, there are still a few tickets available for the performances below.
