The Society was formed in 1966 by a group of people who had a common interest in collecting, studying and polishing semi-precious stones. Agate, carnelian, and jasper are examples of some of the types of stones found in Scotland. We relocated to Knightswood Community Centre and have been very happy here for the past 25 years. The primary aim of the Society is to foster an interest in natural minerals, Lapidary (the cutting, shaping and polishing of stones) and in the crafts related thereto. The workroom, machinery and equipment are all maintained by the members.  Our workroom is also equipped for silversmithing for the production of settings for the finished stones (rings, brooches, pendants etc.) and in the past year for enamelling. There is a small but comprehensive library available. Anyone interested in joining should drop-in to the workshop on a Tuesday afternoon for lapidary or a Wednesday afternoon for enamelling when members would be happy to welcome you.
